Note: There is a discrepancy in the sizing of these boots. A Western size 10 is equivalent to a European size 41, not a 40, as indicated in the sizing drop-down list. I'm not sure where the sizing mistake originates, Western or European sizing. Perhaps if I'd purchased a size 41 they would have fit correctly. Read the rest of this review for other sizing issues.

I immediately really liked the look of these boots when I saw them. I did my research and they seemed like a great deal on a quality boot so I ordered them.

The boots are nicely made. Sturdy construction and quality leather combined with a beautiful classic design. The leather is a bit too shiny for my liking, but I figured with time they will dull down and develop character like all well-loved boots do. They are much shinier than shown in the photos, at least the pair that I received. They seem true to the color on my monitor, but colors vary on different monitors.

The sole is thick and has a bit of rubber traction on the bottom, but it seems the non-skid sole would wear through quickly with heavy wear. I live where it rains a lot and am always concerned with slipping on wet floors. However, a cobbler might be able to add a non-skid surface for better traction.

It finally came time to try them on. I ordered a size 10 and I am true to size. My right foot is larger than my left so I always try on the right shoe first. I was keeping my fingers crossed because not only are they a slip-on style, but I have large calves. These are tall boots with the top of the shaft sitting right at the largest circumference of my calf. The right foot went in easily and fit the calf perfectly. I stood up and the foot bed was a bit snug around my toes, but I figured since they are leather they'll stretch. On to the left foot, my smaller foot. I could not get my heel into the boot. It stopped at the top of the harness strap. I tried again and even switched to a thinner sock thinking that might help. My heel still wouldn't go in.

Unfortunately, I had to return them due to the fact that the left boot is smaller than the right. I decided not to order a larger size as I really don't like the shininess of the leather.

All in all, I think it's a quality boot with good design and if the shiny leather doesn't bother you then you've found yourself some great boots!
