I, too, took a gamble with this Asian-branded man-purse. As it turns out, I think the risk paid off, at least in the short-term. (And, really, there is not much risk in the short-term, because you can always return the product to Amazon) The long-term durability of this bag remains to be seen, but from what I can tell, the craftsmanship is at least at par. I would have preferred double stitching, but at this price point, for what appears to be a genuine leather bag, this is still a steal for US buyers.

The bottom seems to be reinforced, which is good, as I plan to use this to carry 5 classes worth of law bookseasily 15-20 lbs with my laptop. A possible design flaw is the lack of a sturdy bar or other support for the handles at the top. WIth this bag's handles, there are four stress spots that will probably determine the life of the bag. The shoulder strap is synthetic, and the anchorpoints are a little on the wimpy side, another possible determinant of the estimated lifespan of the bag. Perhaps by alternating between using the handles and the shoulder strap one might be able to maximize the life of the product. There are plenty of pockets for pens, phones, keys, etc., in the interior, although the two prominent pockets on the exterior have magnetic clasps that could be stronger. I plan to use those pockets for cables, but certainly nothing valuable.

The only other weak point that I have noticed so far is that depending on what is in the bag, (I have two rows of heavy law casebooks), the bag can sag in the middle when using the shoulder straps, giving it a slightly dumpy look. For more sane applications, (a book or two and a laptop centered in the bag) this will probably be less pronounced or non-existent. Again, a rigid support at the top of the bag would have prevented this. Zippers are at least at par.

Overall, for a sub-one hundred dollar leather bag, I would heartily recommend this product. It certainly mimics bags that cost more than four times its cost, and who knows, maybe this bag will pass the test of time, and find its place in the man-purse hall of fame with the best of them.

UPDATED Update:

I had previously updated that the shoulder strap attachment point broke in my second week of use and I docked some stars for the construction. However, after contacting the seller, MyLux, they graciously offered to replace the broken strap and even to replace the new one should it ever break in the future. That kind of customer service is hard to beat, so my five stars are restored!

To begin, I am a full time undergrad student who works at the university part time.

I must say i was taking a HUGE risk when i bought this bag. I bought it from a seller who I have never heard of and who had no reviews what so ever posted previously on this item.... I feel like i really lucked out with this one. The bag arrived VERY timely and it was wrapped inside one of their companys really nice toupe bags (with some sort of Mandarin written outside) inside a box filled with bubble balloons to ensure the product was shipped safely.

As soon as I opened it i could smell the GENUINE LEATHER... OMG it smelt so GOOD!!! I just recieved this bag today (I will be using it for school, to hold books, ipad, etc... and work) so i have no idea how it will hold up but it looks and feels more expensive than the bags i was looking as in Macy's, Sears, and JCPenny's with my friend.

All I can say is that I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND this BAG. Even if it only last a year for the quality and price of ONLY$50 it is totally worth it!!

I absolutely loved the quality of the bag. I was very upset when the links for the shoulder strap shattered. I was carrying 2 books, a portfolio with loose papers, and a few other miscellaneous items. I bought this bag for durability; one person said they easily carried 20 lbs of law books. Apparently it can't handle English and Spanish... So, on to the next bag.

This bag has great compartments, including one for my laptop, and is the perfect size. It smells great too! Great leather smell! The front flap that covers the two front outer pouches doesn't actually secure, there are tiny magnets but they aren't strong enough to actually catch, so I just don't use the front pouches. Otherwise, this is a great bag and I am happy with it.

*Update* until the hardware on the shoulder-strap snapped 2 weeks after I bought it! It was made out of plastic, painted to look like metal. I could have bought a generic replacement strap, but not from the manufacturer, their only option was to return my money, which I was glad for, but did wish I could simply have bought a new strap. I decided NOT to repurchase this bag, because I assumed a new one would also break inconveniently, and I knew I couldn't get the strap replaced!
