I ordered these boots in black. I wear a size 12 so finding good quality, stylish shoes or boots that I like is important. That is why I got these boots even though they were expensive. Also, they had a good return policy. The boots fit true to size. I ordered a 12B (medium width) and they fit perfectly. I like the lacer look, and the side zipper is very handy for quick on/off. They are a brushed looking leather, not shiny, which is also fine with me. The problem I had was with the sole. The bottom of the sole is a very smooth and slick leather on the front, and a hard plastic slightly ridged heel piece. The structure of the midsole seemed to be a soft, non-durable wood or pressed paper type product. I could barely stand on carpet with them being so slick and smooth on the bottom. I am used to a lug sole and I walk a lot when I am out and about. I took the boots to a shoe repair store where they glued a thin rubber dress sole on the front and replaced the heel piece with a softer rubber. They also repaired where the side of the sole was chipping after only a few times out, and treated the sides of the sole with blackening. Now they are perfect at an additional $35 charge. I do like these boots, and I'm glad I have them, but be prepared to have no traction whatsoever or spend additional money to get them upgraded to a usable sole like I did.
