How do I begin to describe my obsession with these boots? I saw them in a local store's ad when reading the newspaper one Sunday and could not stop thinking about them for a week. I looked them up on Amazon and sure enough they were here, so I stalked them for yet another week. When I saw the "taupe" color drop in price I took it as a sign and bought them, although I had my eye on the cognac brown-ish color. I'm so glad I bought this color, though. I LOVE them in every way. I wouldn't call it a taupe...it's more of a tobacco brown. It's a very neutral color and goes with a lot of different colored clothing in my wardrobe. The boots can be pulled on easily and are generous-sized; I'd say women with a wide shaft would be able to wear these. My calves are almost 16 inches in diameter and I was able to wear these over a pair of skinny jeans with ease. They are so incredibly comfortable, too. I wore them out two nights in a row and they didn't hurt my feet or cause any blisters at all. I am completely in love with these boots and highly recommend them.

They run large... I usually wear 8.5 or 9 and I ended up with an 8! They are super comfortable. I have small calves, and I feel they are just right. I was worried they would be huge around my calves because of some of the other reviews. I wear them with skinny jeans and tights. I get lots of compliments and I love them!

LONG review, but I am providing info I always wish I had before a purchase...

most important, this boot is GORGEOUS. I was looking at the brown color, but it sold out in my size. I saw the "grey" color, and since I only choose to purchase LEATHER boots, I ordered them in "grey leather." to my happy surprise they are NOT greythe are a neutral taupe, almost a medium beige colorI love them, the color is so easy to match with black, but even brown.

the small zipper on the ankle is just right for getting your foot in, and is fairly unnoticeable. the braid trim along the entire shaft is what makes these boots stunningmakes me want to wear them with a skirt!

some reviewers have complained about the mock distressingI do agree, it's unnecessary and a bit of a glitchit appears to be some type of wax applied to the spotsit is not distressed or dyed. I used a wire brush to soften up the spots and it helped to resurface the original material, but not 100%. it is fairly subtle, and I am sure if I don't like it in the future, I can take it to a shoe shop for a really inexpensive touch-up.

My shoe size is normally anywhere from 8 9 depending on the type of shoewith boots I usually order a 9 because I can wear a heavy sock. These boots are roomy in the toe box, and with a 9 I even had wiggle-room.

I bought the grey and was I surprised when I opened the box. The color looks more brown (tabacco) color, nowhere near grey and the only shaft lining is in the foot bed and a thin one around the top. I'm very disappointed with what I paid for them. When I pulled the shaft stuffing out the unlined leather (nowhere inside these boots is there a stamp showing their maker, style, size or that they're leather. Only the sole has the Nine West logo and size) and the color had bled all over the stuffing. Because of the odd color no way it will go with black/gray. I have been looking for a pair of western style grey boots for a while to go with my gray suede western skirt.

Now, for the positive, I'm 5'8" tall with a 15.5" calf, shoe size 11. These boots fit with enough room to wear over jeans (worried about color bleeding). I'm glad I buy my boots larger so I suppose I could use cotton socks to protect my clothing. The shaft reached just under my knee where I like it. The toe area/footbed is very comfy and with the zipper an easy on and off. Despite the color they look sharp on. They do go with denim. I'm giving them a 5 because of comfort and style. I might keep them but with no lining, odd color and the color bleeding I'm disappointed Amazon charged so much for them compared to the other colors ($133.30) in the Thora style. Also, the label on the outside of the box said Avthora but it is an authentic Nine West box and the AV stands for their American Vintage line.

If anyone else out there would reply about how their boots were lined , what color you bought and if they were stamped inside I would appreciate hearing about it.

Update: I shopped several stores and found a pair in Belks. The boots were the same, ie no lining, etc. In store lighting the boots looked like a dark smoke color with a brownish hue. They really are a strange color but they are by far the most comfortable Nine West boots I own. Walked in them all day with no pain or foot fatigue. The color only slightly bled onto my socks so I don't see that as much of a future problem. Did get lots of compliments. Another plus, they don't slouch down.

These would've been a lot nicer if the shafts weren't so wide! One of the biggest problems of long boots without full length zippers. They would look a lot more sophisticated and chic if they fit calves better. They're loose in a way that makes them look cheap. The heel height however, is perfect and the soles are also cushioned. Shall be returning these sadly.
