I have been searching for an elegant rain boot for years, with no luck. I was doing yet another search, when this boot popped up. It is exactly what I have been looking for: an elegant rain boot with a high heel and tall shaft that is full enough to fit my calf, and best of all it didn't cost several hundred dollars. I chose the taupe color, since I wanted a neutral to go with my purple raincoat. I ordered them half a size larger, since on a different web site, one of the customer comments was that it fit tight through the instep. Yesterday my boots arrived, and I anxiously tried them on. They look just as good in real life as in the picture, almost like a regular patent leather dress boot. Sizewise they fit perfectly, I can put a thin sock in them; glad I read the comment about ordering half a size up from your normal size. The shaft ends just beneath my knee, and is full enough to fit my athletic calf. Looks like I can maybe make them fit a little tighter if I tighten up the decorative tie on the side of the boot, but I haven't tried that yet. They look great just the way they are! The heel heighth is perfect, high enough to look elegant, but still low enough to walk comfortably in. Now I can't wait for it to rain, I have great looking rain boots!

Needed a new pair of rainboots. Those darn rubber rainboots are always tearing or leaking and they are never wide enough for my calfs so they tend to scrunch down. In searching around, I caught these on sale at another site for $70. I was hesitant because I prefer a lower heel when traveling to and from work. Turns out the heel height is extremely comfortable. The wide shaft easily fits my wide calf legs with plenty room to tuck in my pants. I did shorten the side ties to make them more accommodating. The shoe part is a tad narrow. My foot is a bit chubby, but I've never worn a wide width shoe. The boots are not at all pinching or uncomfortable, just a bit snug. So I wore them with a very thin sock. However, by the day's end they had already stretched out a bit. Let me tell you that these boots are so comfortable I kept them on all day at work. Didn't bother to change into shoes. My feet stayed perfectly dry in the rain -and I have actually tried them out in several puddles!!! These boots are AWESOME !!! So happy I took a chance on them and that I caught them on sale, because I would never have considered spending $195 for rainboots. These boots are super comfy and sexy and there is no need to limit them to rainy days. The fact that they are all leather is icing on the cake !!! Not to mention the rubber non-slip sole. I bought these in black and loved them so much I later bought them in yellow, and will buy the red also if I find my size at a great price. I do not have the taupe.

Do not go down a size if one wears a half size. I love Sperry boots, they are durable and stylish.

I ordered these w/o too much thought and then hoped for the best! I think they would be great for some women, maybe those wearing leggins or tights. But they are way too big around at the top to wear under slacks or jeans and they are too stiff to allow for adjusting the top around the calf. The adjustment ties will not hold! Also very stiff to put on heel area is way too firn!!
