I've recently moved from California to Portland, and I was rather clueless as to how to deal with the rain we get here. My waterproofed tennis shoes didn't cut it, and I was always cold and miserable. When it came time to shop for new shoes, I immediately thought of Teva, seeing as my best shoes are Teva hiking sandals from 2007--and they serve me better than when they were new.
As for the boots, my feet have been warm and dry on all the rainy dog walks on streets and through grass in 40 degree weather. The loop and eye closures are quick and easy and I never have to worry about the boots coming open. My feet have never been too hot when I need to wear my boots while visiting an restaurant. I can't vouch for temperature tolerances lower than 40 degrees F, as it just hasn't gotten that cold yet. My guess is, with a thicker pair of snow socks, these boots will rock even below freezing.
My only piece of advice is that these shoes do run about 1/2 size too small and so my 8.5 pair fits perfectly, despite my being a size 8. Also, wear socks. I went out sans socks, which is an obvious mistake on a walk, and came back with one little blister on my heel. No biggie, and I haven't had any need to 'break in' the boots at all. They fit fantastically from the start.
Buy these shoes if you need a warm, stylish and practical waterproof boot. You won't be disappointed.

The quality and color of this boot was great! Perfect for weekend wear, or even hiking. I wear any 11, and bought an 11. I couldn't even get my foot into the boot. The shaft is very narrow and sizing runs small. To say the least, I was very sad they didn't fit.Buy Teva women's Haley Boot Now

In some websites the suede toes and heels of these boots are pictured as a more burgundy colour... I was worried when I saw that. Thankfully the suede parts are a dark mulberry purple not red/burgundy colour. more true to colour on amazons photo than ohter websites. I am in Australia so the sizing was a worry, to get it right. I emailed the teva website with my exact foot measurement in inches. They recommended a size 9. I ordered a size 81/2 based on my own research and hunches, and am so glad I did... the size 81/2 is perfect to wear thick socks with or thinner socks. I am a size 8 U.S. in the merrel tiaga boots ( in merrel tiaga boots size 8 I can wear thicker socks comfortably).I must say though if you only intend to wear thin socks and do not have particulary wide feet or unusually high insteps then order your normal size, I could have fitted the size 8 as the leather has quite a bit of stretch in it after a few wears, but I like a little extra space so Im happy with the 81/2. they do not make my feet look too big or out of proportion going up half a size!I realize sizing differs between brands and think I am normally a size 8 U.S. if they are true to size. the 81/2 in teva haley boot is still not too tight with thick socks on so I agree order one half size up if you want to be comfortable in thick socks...
the boots are easy to get on and off, they are comfortable and light weight to walk around in. they do NOT feel as insulated as they sound, so if you feel the cold, get the half size up so you can wear thick socks...or even a size up to put an insole in with thick socks...ie if you plan to stand for long periods on a cold stone or cement surface? depends what you like and how much you feel the cold. I am talking minus thirty degrees farenheight ( zero degrees celcius cold...) I have medium width feet and I did not have any trouble getting into them or find them too narrow. I just wish that they had the option of a pair with creme or purple coloured felt instead of the grey felt around the top.. thats the only complaint I have!I returned this boot because it wasn't what i was looking for. It is a sturdy boot and a comfortable boot, my problem was with the inside. I knew it didn't have a fuzzy lining, but it is not particularly warm in the toe area either. It felt there was no extra layer between the outside leather and the inside area of the toe which means as soon as the outside is cold the inside is cold too. I get incredibly cold feet, especially in a north east winter, and so this boot won't work for me. It is comfortable and it felt waterproof (though I didn't test this!) but it just doesn't have enough layers between me and the elements for my ridiculously cold feet!
