I originally ordered a pair of Frye boots that I ended up returning because of poor craftsmanship and lack of comfort. I'm so glad I found these! They cost HALF of what I had paid for the Fryes and are TWICE as comfortable. The pebbled leather is nice, the calf and lower foot buckles are adjustable to fit different calf sizes, and they are super cute. I have a narrow foot and small calves (I'm 5'8" and weigh 128 lbs), so I adjusted the calf buckle to the smallest ring. It does not effect the look of the boot and they fit great. Fantastic buy. BONUS: They came with very sturdy foam inserts and box that I can use for storage which the Fryes do not.

I guess i don't really know what the classification for a wide calf is-I don't feel like I have a wide calf but apparently they are mammoth--I have about a 16 inch circumference calf and I am 5'2-These boots are beautiful and I am so sad that I can't keep them-They have a bit of goring in the back which helps to stretch, but the "adjustable" boot buckle on the top doesn't actually open the boot up by muchit will extend the opening slightly, but it's only an inch long , it doesn't extend the leg of the boot, just the top :( so I could barely get the zipper past the bottom if my calf because it was so narrow and I am short, so the boot shape didn't really line up with my shape. Also want to note that I sized a half size down from my regular size 7 to a 6.5 to account for the leather stretching and there was still some room in the toe brand new! Over all, if the shaft was shorter or the circumference was larger, I would have kept these boots, they are beautiful in person, good quality leather and soft and flexible in the foot, but I am sending them back.

I typically don't write reviews, but felt compelled because I purchased these based on other reviews. The boots are very cute and I wish they actually fit 15 1/2" calves, but they don't. I have 15" calves and could zip these up (barely) if I did not want to tuck any pants into them. However, there was no way to zip them up with pants even skinny jeans. Not being able to tuck means that it is a waste of boot because you can't see them. Also, very big in the ankles and I do not have narrow ankles!

I knew when I purchased these boots that the shaft height could be a problem (16.5in) because I'm petite at 5'3". Well I was right on my thoughts. They are nice looking boots and the quality seems to be great but they were just too tall for me and they came up to my knee. It dug into the back of my knee when I sat down and so I knew they weren't going to work out. Also, the circumference is a little big if you have small calves but they have an adjustable buckle which helps out with that. I'm still rating these boots high because they will be great for anyone who is taller. It's unfortunate that they weren't about an incher shorter.
