I live in Vermont and know a good boot when I wear one. This is a great boot for snowshoeing and winter hiking. I gave them a good workout in deep snow and cold temperatures. My toes were warm and comfortable. I really am very pleased with the quality and price. Bring on the next blizzard!

I'm a mountain/hiking guide, I use this boot in the winter ALL the time. Woodcutting, hiking, snow hiking (without the snow shoes)..everything. It still looks like new. Honestly, it hasn't come apart anywhere. It has tons of support, super sticky bottoms, great arch support and my feet are dry from snow, fits just right (Merrell's have been letting me down alot lately on fit). I've spent the whole day in snow to my knees with gators and these boots, and my feet were warm and toasty all day long. They have never failed me. If I HAD to say one bad thing...you feet are So warm, they sweat alot, so you're feet with be really stinky at the end of the day (: I WISH WISH WISH Merrell would make this EXACT boot version for the summer...same ruggedized rubber outter (love that for hiking~no stubbing toes in these), just a bit more breathable. Id buy 100 pairs!! I have walked about 800 miles total in these in addition to cutting 5 cords of wood in them this year alone...and I love them to death!! Get them, you WONT be let down.

I can't say enough good things. I did size up a half size and they work well, I can even wear a thick sock with them.

Completely waterproof and super warm! I live in Vermont and I think it is freezing here. My feet are never cold in these...and my feet are always cold.

I wore these for a few hours right out of the box with no trouble. No issues with rubbing or having to wear them in. They were right from the moment I got them. I couldn't believe it because they are a solid boot with very little flexibility.

I am sure these are for serious hiking. I don't use them that way. We get a lot of snow where I live and these get a lot of daily use. I have had them for one season and I know they will be my serious boots for many years. They still look brand new. Worth every penny.

People have commented poorly on the color. I think Silver Birch is a color from a prior year, so it probably doesn't matter anymore. But I like it, not white and not gray really. Matches everything. Seriously, I was looking for function and was just sick of black. This has better function than I thought could have existed in a boot. Buy it and you will never regret it!

The shoe arrived one day later from due date since they must have travelled from a snowstorm on there end so it's understandable but delivery was still exceptional. Now i need lots of snow so i can really make use of Whiteout 8. I originally liked the men's green with orange but they didn't have it in the women's version so i got the black with purple and painted yellow on the grey areas to make it eyecatching. It's true to size with wiggle room in case one puts on those winter wool socks. Performance wise it is solid, very good traction, comfortable and warm, very warm. There is a back kick (it seems to be the perfect name for it) is good when you walk in home and kick the back of the boot off with your other toes so as not to bend down and use your hands. I have yet to walk them in a snowstorm!
