I thought I would like these but not so much. First the heal on these boots is weird and is hard to balance on. Its a small heal but it is proportioned weird. It is also very tight around the calf and I do not have large calves but I could barely zip them up. They also were not very tall, about mid calf height.

Perfect fit, I am a size 7 in Australia so the US 6.5 is very comfortable. The expandable zipper is great for when I want to tuck boot-legged jeans into the boots.I have walked a bit in these shoes and found no problem with heel at all.

The comments to this review will have the permalink to my review of the suede version of these Eliseo Boots; it's more detailed, than this review. Those, I ordered in 10M, though a size 8.5 D foot. They fit perfectly. The black leather version here, I ordered size 11, so I can wear thick socks with them.

The suede boots are more supple than these black ones, but I love the (somewhat stiffer) black ones, too. Just like the picture, they are pebble-grained cow leather, well finished. Same style, else.

Some have complained about the smallish heel at the back. It is disconcerting, at first, but if you can get used to wedge shoes, this will be easier to wear without balance problems (though this is not a wedge heel). For me, the heel is just the right balance (pun intended), between a nice city heel and the workhorse lug heel we expect in farm boots. Very elegant, frankly. Yet would not be wholly out of place on the farm, or when riding in the ring. They seem sturdy enough to walk New York City, yet ride a horse on the farm; though I suppose it depends how hard one is, on shoes.

Enfin, when I finally find a product that's 'just right' for me, I know the maker will suddenly discontinue it. So that's why now I have both pairs. If you have had trouble finding boots which aren't too tall, which allow you to VARY the width at the top, which accommodate a size D woman's width, these are for you.

The fifth star is held back, pending longevity testing. I won't know for a year, maybe, how well these boots hold up. But they look like they will. Hence four stars.

I love these!! So much that I rarely where any other shoe during the winter and rainy season. Durable and cute. Good leather product, well made and stylish. I highly recommend!!

Took me a while to find the right pair of boots, and I finally did with this one! I love the way it looks, classic and clean. My favorite part is how comfortable it is! I don't think I've had it for a week yet, but I've worn them a few times already. I love it!!
