I grew up in the rainy city of Vancouver where it would vary between drizzling and pouring down in buckets for three seasons of the year. Soaked toes were a common thing for me and I never bothered investing in Wellington boots because they were always so oversized and uncomfortable to walk in.

Hunter boots rose to fashion popularity in the last five years or so. Along with their standard line of dark matte colors, Hunter began introducing a colorful line of glossy boots with some colors changing seasonally. The label with the company name displayed prominently at the top front of each boot is instantly recognizable everywhere and suddenly celebrities were spotted in different styles and colors all over the place.

I'm five foot ten inches tall, so I'm quite accustomed to boots being far too short on me. The Hunter boot appealed to me not only because of the wide variety of colors, but also because of how tall they appeared to be. I need that extra length. But the price tag of $125 for rubber rain boots did still seem a little bit outrageous to me...

I'm going to be honest: I got these on sale. A lot of websites that sell them have intermittent 25-30% off sales that allow me to pick them up just shy of $100, which hurts my wallet a little bit less. That said, now that I own a pair, I understand why they're priced the way they are. And I completely believe it's worth it.

I bought these gloss finish Welles in a size 9 in black (which seemed the most versatile for my first pair). The first thing I noticed is that there is a very thin layer of insulation in the boot. It's smooth which makes it easy to put them on and take them off. The nine was snug in the shaft of the boot but a little bit looser in the heel and toe, which makes them great for wearing thick wooly socks with. There is a surprising amount of support in the soles of these shoes and they aren't nearly as heavy as I had expected them to be. They're very careful walk-around boots.

There is wonderful traction on the bottom of these boots as well. I've marched over fairly slick surfaces in these boots and I haven't come close to slipping even once. They keep my feet and lower legs dry and when I pair them with a longer coat I manage to stay almost completely dry in even Vancouver's most dreary days.

All in all these boots can't be beat. I can't wait to pick up another pair in red or yellow for a little more excitement. The quality is top-notch and investing in a pair of these boots means investing in rain boots that are going to last years.

It's fun to have bright yellow boots for stomping about the farm irrigating. Was a little disappointed at the amount of support in the foot, but boot is well made. Not certain it's worth the money, but they make me smile when I put them on.

These boots are amazing! Would definitely recommend. Personally, they run a little large on me so for personal reference I would probably buy on the smaller side in the future.

These boots are definitely a dark raspberry color, rather than the purple shown on Amazon's website. It's very pretty. They are comfy and keep your feet warm, with room for fuzzy socks inside.

for my wife until they became worn from frequent use. BUYER BEWARE. My wife waters at a garden center locally, she swore by her Hunter Wellies and recommended them to people all the time. She even earned the nickname, "boots" from wearing her Hunter rain boots. But normal wear produced very slight areas of fatigue hardly noticeable in the rubber and eventually they would no longer keep her feet dry. This occurred only a month or two after the one year warranty had run out. Hunter customer service were not any help at all. They held to their one year warranty, so I inquired as to whether or not they expected customers to purchase a new pair of boots every year and a half. I also further inquired if they had heard of companies like LL Bean and Land's End (not unsuccessful companies by any stretch) who guarantee their products unconditionally for life. WOULD DEFINITELY NOT PURCHASE HUNTER BOOTS EVER AGAIN. THANKS. Have a nice day.
