Don't laugh at me too hard: if you read all the reviews I've written in the last few weeks, you'll find no fewer than five reviews on boots. I have right now, in my living room, SIX PAIRS of boots I've bought at Amazon, all in vain attempt to find one that fits. This one, DOES. Perfectly. Review covers the 'dark taupe', which is just like the picture. Yay. So the other four pairs are going back to Amazon, and my WEEKS of shopping for the right boot, ends! Double-yay.

Why is it so hard to find good boots? Well, let's look at what one normally wants in a boot:

1. Shaft is not too high (this one is about an inch lower than normal). If the shaft is too high, it will pinch when you sit down.

2. Shaft is REAL LEATHER. This one, is cow suede. You want leather for breathability, class, longevity. Its interior is lined with a combo of nice foam backing, and strips in some kind of vinyl. (Would have preferred the interior to be leather.)

3. Sole is RUBBER. Yep, these are; description says 'manmade', but it 'walks' as if real rubber, with good traction. For you don't want to go suddenly sliding on the floor, in Walmart. (Too often the expensive, nice boots with leather soles, which are just fine outdoors or in the horse's stall, will cost you time in the hospital, if you use them for shopping. I learned that from some fabulous Dingos I wore, the hard way: almost broke my leg on the Walmart slick floor.)

4. Shaft is EXPANDABLE, but without gaps. This particular boot offers TWO ZIPPERS, one specifically for expandability. Best feature of the boot, makes it superior to all the others.

5. Overall appearance of the boot is sturdy enough for any outdoor chores, but nice enough to wear in the city. Yeah, baby, this boot fits that need, perfectly!

6. Foot fits like a glove, in the boot; you need that, to reduce chafing when walking. I have 8.5" C or D width, so normally have to order a 10, as here; but for boots, normally I'd have to order an 11 or a 12. Other reviewers warned the boot would run large in the foot, so I took a chance on the 10 M, and man! Fits like a glove. Never had that experience with a boot, until right now.

I'm so happy with this boot, I could scream. The other boot I finally had success with, was a 12 C in Annie Bromley navy. So if you're having trouble getting good fit similar to my description above, try THIS boot first; else, try the Annie (which is not real leather, but functions like leather should).

If I had to pick something negative to say, it's that the heel on the boot is too narrow; balance isn't like you'd get with a full lug half-moon heel. But hey: I'll get used to it. These boots are classy, comfortable, can't wait for winter. Wait: it's 90 degrees outside, and I don't want to remove these boots, even now!

Five Stars, unless longevity proves a problem. Will report back here, if that happens.

I really like the product a lot. Unfortunately it is not totally true to size, because it is too big for me even though I normally wear a size 6,5. I will have to return it. I trust that I will be able to change it for a size 6.

These fit true to size, actually sag a little which you can't see in the picture, come up to a little above mid leg. Feel good, too.
