If Cowboy Professional is trying to offer a lower-priced alternative to Old Gringo or other high-priced fashionista boots, they're off to a good start. While there is somewhat less of the meticulous attention to detail you see in a $600 pair of Old Gringos, these are a fun, well-made, sturdy pair of boots at a price you just can't beat. The cut-outs, stitching, lining, sole and heel are as good as or better than boots I've seen in the $300 range.
As for the fit, this pair ran true to length, but was very tight across the ball of my right foot and in the right toe box--so much so that I almost took them off before walking around in them. Good news! They started to loosen up almost immediately, just enough to be comfortably snug. I don't have much heel slippage (which you should have in new cowboy boots), but I think that will be OK. I would be a little concerned about the fitt of these boots if you have a wide foot, though. Other good news is that I have a fairly high arch and the boots were easy to get on & off.
The only other fit issue has to do with the little area on the outside edge of your foot between where the heel bone ends and the bones of your mid-foot begin. There's a little fleshy area there with no bone, and these boots have a little bump or roll in the insole that hit me right there. It feels a little odd at first, but it's not uncomfortable, just odd.
I tried these on with a thinish biking sock and a medium-weight wool sock, and I liked the fit with the wool sock better, even though the boots were tighter with the heavier sock.
I would recommend you give Cowboy Professional boots a try if you see a pair you like.
