A friend of mine had bought two pairs of these boots (in black and brown) last year, and I've been drooling over them for over a year. When there was a price drop here on Amazon, I snatched up a black pair -and absolutely love them! They have a unique Victorian flair, and are absolutely adorable.
Since I teach and am on my feet all day, I usually buy comfort brands like Sofft, Born, or White Mountain so I can make it through the day. I knew that La Canadienne boots were comfortable, but had no idea just how comfortable they really were until I wore these for the first time the other day. After eight hours on my feet, I was so surprised. These are honestly the most comfortable boots (or even shoes) that I have ever worn (and I didn't need to change into my "back-up boots" the first time I wore them)!
That being said, there are some things to be aware of. As another reviewer pointed out, the shaft on these boots is really slim. As a point of reference, my calves are about 13 1/2 inches at their thickest point, and these boots fit my calves snugly (not to the point of being uncomfortable, but they are form-fitting). I imagine that the leather could stretch a bit, but if you have larger calves, I wouldn't recommend them. There is also no way that you could tuck skinny jeans or pants into these, so I wouldn't recommend buying these particular boots if you're after that style.
They also seem to run true to size. I'm usually a 7 1/2 in regular shoes and boots, but sometimes have to go larger in boots. The 7 1/2 in these, though, fit perfectly!
The leather on these boots is seriously the softest leather I have ever experienced. They feel like gloves in how nicely they fit.
The inner lining is also designed for cooler climes, and so if your feet get hot easily, you may not like them. I live in Southern California where it doesn't get very cold, but I'm always chilly and these kept my feet nice and toasty.
Also, the heel on these is stylish, but low enough so that I didn't even feel like I had a heel on. They felt just like I was walking in flats, but provided that nice little flattering lift that a heel gives.
These are definitely a splurge, but the weather-resistant quality of these, along with the extreme level of comfort they provide, make them a worthwhile investment.
UPDATE ON 2/20/11: I've had these boots for almost a year now, and they still look and feel brand new, even though I wear them two or three times a week during the cooler months. They are still the most comfortable shoes I own, and I get compliments on them all the time. I highly recommend them!

This boot is really nice looking. I imagine it would go with lots of different outfits from skirts, dresses and pants. Unfortunately I'm not able to find out. I read some reviews that said that this was a good boot for women with larger calves. I was excited when I received the boots but found that even with getting a size larger than I normally wear, the boot was impossible to get over my calf. I couldn't even get my foot into it. Needless to say, I had to send the boots back. If you have normal size or skinny calves, this would be a great and stylish boot with nice leather and decorative trim. But, if your calves are just a little big, forget it. Don't believe the reviews that say it's for "wide calves".Buy La Canadienne Women's Tahra Boot Now
These are comfortable, waterproof, and dressya combo that was hard for me to find. I can honestly recommend them.Read Best Reviews of La Canadienne Women's Tahra Boot Here
This is the most comfortable non-athletic boot I've ever worn. The leather is soft and high quality and the styling is unique and fashionable. I only wish the shaft had more structure because it sags a little which is less flattering for the calf. If it were an extra inch higher it would be more slimming for the calf too. But it meets all my needsI can wear it with pants or dresses, with formal or informal clothes, in any type of weather, and walk all day on cobblestones and pavement without any discomfort. The only problem was the cost but at least I bought them on sale. Bravo, La Canadienne!Want La Canadienne Women's Tahra Boot Discount?
I was skeptical about these boots, mostly due to the price. I quickly found out that they are worth every penny! The second day I wore these boots, after only a day of wearing them around the house,I walked two miles in them around the school where I work. They never bothered my feet and I can be in them for TWELVE hours straight without a problem. Since I am a teacher, these qualities are necessary for a shoe or boot. Besides comfortable, they are sexy! They look terrific with skirts! I was so happy to have found a boot like this so that I can wear my skirts in the colder months. The only thing that might be a problem for some women is the tightness on the legs. Also, there might be a problem wearing them when warmer weather comes due to the insulation. I bought them so I can wear my skirts in the colder months and they are perfect!
Update (6/14/2012):
I still love these boots, and I would love to find them again so I could buy them in black. They were worth every penny.
