LOVE these boots....so cool! And the black is awesome....kind of a muted black if that makes sense.

My only gripe is that I am a true size 7...and found them slightly big...but mainly they were really long....like skis.

I am 5' 2" and petite so maybe it was just because of my proportions. I returned them for a 6.5 and they seem better. Almost thinking I could get away with a size 6 but afraid the width then might be a problem.

These boots are fabulous. The quality is clear the moment you see them the leather is very soft and very high quality. Feels nicer than any other boots I've ever owned. They are exactly as pictured the black is not dark black, definitely a softer weathered black, but I love the color.

I think these are really made for tall girls. I am 5'8 and these boots hit me perfectly the back side is below the knee, the front side is above the knee. I think if you were much shorter than I am you would have problems when where the boots hit you on your legs.

I loved these boots the moment I saw them. Boot shaft is a bit tight so for anyone who doesn't have skinny stick legs you may have the same heart sinking problem that I did when I first tried them on. I don't have unusually large calves, but they are muscular. I looked online for tips on how to safely aid in improving the fit/stretching cowboy boots. One tip that I used was to wear the boots around the house to wear in, warm the leather to stretch and mold to the shape of your leg. This seems to have helped. If there is still a slight issue then I will take them to a professional cobbler. There are odd tips such as using vinegar, warm water, etc to stretch the leather, but I'd rather have a professional with the skills and tools to do the job right.m

Needless to say, these boots are even more beautiful in person. The quality in the stitching, the leather, heel, etc are exceptionally good. The price is definitely worth the investment. I was scared, because these are my first real cowboy boots! Definitely happy with my choice, and happy with how quickly I received my order. I wrote them with a question regarding my boots/ fit, and they wrote back by the next day.

These boots are adorable! Fit is better than many rubber boots, which I have found to be rather wide and have a "sloshy" feel. However, I disagree that these run a full size large. I am pretty much a true 8.5 and my toes were at the very end of the 8 so I had to get a 9. They were a bit loose but a set of inexpensive insoles took care of that. I am almost looking forward to the next big rainstorm so I can wear them. With as wet as our winters can get, having rockin' rainwear is really mandatory to keep the spirits from spiraling south.

I bought these boots and wore them less than 15 times. The rubber cracked where the ball of foot bends when you walk. This made them useless as rain boots. Very cute, but if they don't do the job, what's the point?

Yes, the boots are super cute and garner a comment and smile or two when wearing them out. However, when I stepped in a puddle last night and felt water sloshing over my heel only to discover that BOTH PAIRS had large rips in the back seams, they unsurprisingly weren't too adorable anymore.

The real rub is that this is my second pair of these boots from Western Chief in the past three years, because I replaced the first pair for the exact same tears in the exact same place, after only wearing those for a little over a year as well. Had they been , I would have begrudgingly abided by the "get what you pay for" mantra, but for close to bucks I expect a lot more durability, Western Chief.

After buying a pair of frog rain boots for myself, I had to buy these boots for my sister-in-law. The kids have the kitty and lady bug boots themselves. Western Chief boots are wonderful! Comfortable and dry is how are feet stay when wearing these boots. I've used them when working in the garden, puddle jumping with my daughter, on the beach and just working in the yard trying to stay on top of rain gutter issues. The only problem with gardening in them is the sole isn't quite sturdy enough for using with a shovel. It's a bit painful to stand on the shovel in these boots. Other than that, they're perfect and highly recommended.

I ordered these because I thought these were for narrow calves, but the calf circumference on a size 36 was 14.5" and was sadly way too big for my 12" calf. I had been searching for a great knee-high boot for a long time. Apparently, a 14-1/8" calf is considered wider-than-average in the boot world. Every time I'd find a beautifully-crafted boot, I was unable to zip it. (Or, I'd zip them up by force and my calves looked like stuffed sausages). I even went as far as to get a couple of boots altered, but the addition of large V-shaped gussets ruined the lines of the boots.

Thankfully, this season, most of the boots have been made a little wider to wear over skinny jeans. "Knee-high" seems to be a relative term, though. Although in photos, most boots look pretty tall, most have been 3"-4" below my knees. I am 5'-4". Since my legs are fairly short, I need the boots to be fitted and right below where the back of my knee bends/right under the kneecap in order to create an illusion of length.

At 16.5" shaft length, the Seychelles Slap on the Wrist boot in black came closest to what I was looking for. Amazon was having a great deal on my size and they offered free return shipping! I was so excited to find the package waiting for me on the front steps.

The boots come in a cool, black slide-out box. Soft and supple real leather -closer to nubuck leather than shiny-smooth leather. The 15" boot opening was ample enough to accomodate regular fitted jeans comfortably. I have a developing bunion on my right foot and was worried the boot was going to be too narrow, but it fit well. The 7.5 is true to size and may be too loose for someone with really narrow feet.

I then tried on the left boot. It was significantly larger, almost loose. I thought it was a defect in the manufacturing process. I measured my left calf, and lo and behold, it was 13-7/8". Who knew a 1/4" difference could be so significant! The stitching was chaffing my outside left ankle bone. I was wearing nylons at the time. It was better with thicker socks. The boot shaft came up to about 2-1/2" below my knees. Still, not a deal-breaker.

After trying on both boots in front of a full-length mirror, I was devastated to see how much the boots slouched around the ankles. My ankles are 8" around. They looked horrible. Looks like Zappos.com is no longer carrying the boots, but I checked out their video review of the Seychelles Slap on the Wrist after I placed my order through Amazon. You can clearly see the slouching on the model, but mine was about 50% worse. I watched other videos of similar boots and all of them sort of slouch. Maybe this is the nature of these types of riding boots? Needless to say, the boots were sadly returned.

The only boot I've tried on this season so far without this issue is the Coconuts Blakely riding boot selling for $149.95 at DSW. In this boot, the ankle is clearly tapered in. The reasons I didn't buy this boot is that the foot is too narrow, the shaft is too short, I didn't like the styling of the back of the shaft, and the heel is too flat. I know I sound pretty darn critical, but boots are a luxury item for me. So, if I'm going to dish out close to $200 for boots, I expect good fit, proportions, and aesthetics.

After I returned the Seychelles boots, I ordered the Blondo Women's Vallera Knee-High Boot in black through Amazon. Pretty plain-looking, but it has a 17" shaft, and one of the reviewers mentioned a narrow ankle. If this one doesn't work, I think I'll give up. ~Sigh~

Lightening my hair color meant this winter I'll be needing some non-black boots :) I didn't want the usual dark brown, so I searched for cognac/spice/etc color boots. The color looks great in person, and I trust the Seychelles brand, so I'm happy with my purchase. I like the short heel, as my feet don't like to go flat but I'll be walking a lot, so can't be too high.

My usual size is 7.5, but these are a bit too loose. However, I tried the 7s and those were just too tight, and I had tight boots before that never loosened up enough even after cobbler treatment, so I learnt my lesson. I kept the 7.5 and added a foam insert to make it work. It's not necessary for sole comfort, I just needed it to fit better.

I have small calves, so these are a tiny bit loose around, but only about half an inch. I can always just add a pair of knee-high socks, but as I'll be likely wearing them over leggings or skinny jeans, the shaft width works for me. They are not too wide to look funny under bootcut or straight leg jeans either. If you have athletic calves, these may not work for you, although there is a bit of a built-in stretch. Amazon has a good return policy (which is why I was able to order two sizes to compare), so give it a try!

I ordered these boots in grey and was very excited about them. I'm looking for a perfect fall/winter boot, and thought these would be it. The boots are made OK, leather is semi-soft, and the sole is sturdy. However, I could barely zip them up (my calves are about 16 inches in size 10). Overall, I liked them but what bothered me was how bulky the toe part looks. I'm looking for something more refined/tailored. These have a combat boot style.

These are my favorite boots and let me tell you-I have a LOT of cowboy boots. They are indeed ladies boots. This is a high quality boot and at this price, they are a total steal. When I ripped the package open I could immediately smell the fresh sent of leather. I looked closely at them not expecting them to super fantastic as the price was too good for that. I was highly surprised to find that the leather edges were all finished nicely, The stitching on the boot was also great as was the finishing where the leather meets the sole plate. This is sorta a pet peeve of mine to see bad finishing with glue and stitching showing. None of that on my new boots. I rushed to get socks to try them on.. Ugh... I was so fricken sad that they were tight on my calf. There is no way that it was the stated calf width. I would say at least a inch less. :(. But I love them so... The foot bed fits great. I have bunions so no shoe really feels good upon first getting them. I can tell that after breaking them in a bit they will be fine. I did some research on line and I am going to take them to the shoe repair place to have the calves stretched. I think they will work fine! Hooray!! I really love them and would be sad to have to return them. I will update once I have this done.

I took a chance with these boots. I wear a size 12M (although NW shoes/boots are most times slightly roomier width). My calf is 17in. So I checked with NW & verified the shaft of this boot because information shows it is 15 1/2 inches wide for size 8. They told me it would be 16 1/2 for size 12. With free ship & returns it was worth a try. It fits my calf! It could stand another inch in my opinion. I figured they would probably give that inch as I wear them because they are leather. I walked around in them to be sure and they are very comfy and easy to walk in (on carpet but the true test is concrete). I ordered the black and the leather is quality, smooth and rich (perfect match for my black leather coat). I bought these boots in purple suede and they are absolutely gorgeous! I ordered these in a Size 11 and they have a nice tight fit in the calves and wore them out on Saturday night with a color block dress and at least 10 people asked me where I got these boots because they liked the color. The heel could be a little thicker but these boots have a 1" platform. I might buy these in black or brown to add to my boot wardrobe. I bought these boots for occasional use. I didn't expect that I would love them so much I would want to wear them all the time!

They fit the way most Nine West boots fit on me. I think everyone needs to find the right brand for them. I ordered them in a size 10 because they are so high. I wear a 9 1/2 in flat boots and in my last pair of Nine West flat boots too. I am happy with the fit.

The calves are a little looser than my other flat Nine West boots, but not bad. I can still wear them under jeans without them being too bulky.

I was surprised though that the height wasn't too uncomfortable. Let's not get nuts here, they aren't sneakers, but the front is angled up a little so you can take a full stride and bend your foot. I have other high boots that I can't really take a rolling step in. Plus, there is height under the bottom of the balls of the feet too, so that heel doesn't hurt your ankles too much.

One thing though, they are very slick on the bottom. I suggest putting a piece of masking tape on the bottom of them or scuffing the soles of them on the sidewalk before wearing them the first few times. (Don't scuff the boots on the top for goodness sake! I am only talking about the soles of the boots.) I ordered the black suede and they are very soft.

I hope this review helps someone else. It is so hard to buy things site unseen.

P.S. I bought these from Amazon and had them on my feet in two days. Gotta love Prime!!

The shaft is so wide that when I had the boots on; I was able to place my whole hand inside and still had room. I am 5'7 and weigh 127lbs.
