I absolutely love these boots! They are comfortable, right out of the box. There is adequate cushioning, the leather is soft, and the inside is smooth, pat-down wool. They're also incredibly durable, and made to withstand almost any weather. These boots will take quite a beating!

While I simply adore these boots, there are a few things you should know before purchasing them.

1. The color shown by the Amazon product images is misleading. It shows a very burnished red, while in reality the boots are a much brighter red. I love them either way, but you might want to consider this before buying them. I've posted a few "customer images" of my boots so you can see what they really look like. They're cute, but just not the color Amazon shows.

2. They run big. I suggest you go a size down. I wear a 7 US/5 UK in shoes normally, but the 6 US/4 UK fit well. They're slightly wide, but fittingly so (I've got narrow feet).

I recommend these boots, but it's important to check the real color (found in customer images or on the Dr. Martens website) and go one size down.

Love these boots, well made, solid and a great color!

After reading several reveiws I decided to go down a 1/2 size. I usually wear a U.S. 9 1/2 and order a size 9 U.S. (sz 7 UK) and they fit perfectly.

These are good bootsthey run somewhat large as I find is always the case with Dr Martens. Great red color. The only flaw is minorcheap brown?? lacesnot the usual quality. Fortunately easily replaced.

In looking for the perfect winter boots, I opted for these over Clarks Desert Mali Boots. I love the Clarks low profile, but in the end the Docs won (hands down, really) because they are warm (plaid wool lining, air cushioned sole and thicker leather), more durable and weather resistant (thicker leather and that serious sole/stitching) and totally comfortable out of the box. I had already seen them on the Dr. Martens website so I knew they would be a softer brown leather than pictured have a look so you'll know what you're getting.

I'm so glad I chose function over form (though the modified combat boot is a great look too!)

**on sizing: they run big! I wear a women's 7.5 and the EU 5 fits well with a warm sock.
