I have been on a boot-buying mission of late...so far, 3 pairs of Ariats, 4 pairs of Frye, 1 pair of Caterpillars, 1 pair of Clarks.. and 1 pair of Old Gringos...I returned the Old Gringos, as the leather was crispy goat hide and the tanning was el cheapo....I can state that the Fryes are all 100% light years ahead of Lanes, Ariats, Clarks and Caterpillars...they are also a bit more expensive...but, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Here, I spent 400 bux on a pair of Lanes....the red in the photo is quite a bit prettier than the red I received...mine leans towards a bricky burgundy...not tomato as shown...it is goat-hide, though not crispy like the Old Gringos...these are fashion boots, as stated...not for actually doing anything in but heading out for a beer and a dance..they are VERY comfy....the one thing I truly don't love about these boots is the METALLIC GOLD STITCHING on them...not shown in the photo, it cheapens their appearance considerably...it takes a lot for me to return anything...I won't return these because they are still cool and dramatic and tall..but, if you are wanting such a boot...check out the Ariat Hacienda or the Ariat Murieta...same leather (perhaps Ariat's is even better!)....and significantly less in the cashola dept...

These were drop-shipped from the manufacturer and Tims Boots did a REMARKABLE customer service job for me...

My bottom line is this: for cowboy bots...buy Lucchese....

for other hipster boots, buy Frye....

For great service, buy from Tim's Boots...

Don't bother buying this boot though....not for 400.00...not even for 300.00.....

I just love these boots. They are so comfortable and classy; just made for dancing. Really very well made. When I wear them, I think of that song, "These boots were made for walking." Every where I go, I receive compliments on how good they look. They are worth every penny. I am thinking of purchasing another pair of the Margaret in Black/Teal/Ivory. I have other cowboy boots, but these are definitely my favorite.
