I am a size 8.5. I ordered 8.5 and the foot bed fits perfectly. Its even comfortable which is surprising for the height of the heel. Its Frye, so the quality of leather craftsmanship is very nice. However, the only complaint I have is that it takes about 5 minutes to get these bugger on. Since there is no zipper you have to use the pull tabs to get them on. That in itself is no big deal, but the pull tabs are made of ribbon which makes it a little stressful on the hands while tugging and after 4-5 wears the tab on the left boot broke. This is a big deal since I can't get them on without the tab. At first Frye suggested I have the shaft stretched or get a bigger size. If I did that they'd be too loose in the shaft once on and if I ordered a larger size the foot bed would be way too big. Now Frye has instructed me to send them to the local Frye ummmmm? boot fixer? so we'll see if they can be fixed. They are awesome once you get them on! However, beware.

UpdateI sent these to the Frye repair as suggested. They fixed the pull tabs with much stronger ones. The boots still take waaaay too long to get on while putting an amazing amount of pressure on my hands and my ankles due to the extreme amount of tugging.

I had to down rate these boots to a 3 due to this problem. I mean, what use is a great looking pair of boots if you can't get them on or off without this kind of struggle?

they are made in china. Yes, they are very nice but honestly, I would not be willing to spent $350 if I knew where they were made. I also find it very frustrating that Frye Company, even on their own website, most of the time will not specify where the boots are made. About a week ago, I called about another pair, Frye Donna Snap Short, and spent 15 minutes on hold, until a representative went to 'make sure' where they were made. Oh, yes, these are made in China too. I was advised by the representative that only Frye's 'core lines' are made in the US. Honestly, that's a little too much research for me to do when buying boots, they really should put that in description, imo.

The boot needs to be worn with a thick sock. Its not comfortable for walking very far in or standing around in. It looks like a more expensive boot than it is. Its a good classic style and well constructed.
