These boots are very attractive with the small square of brown and the blue laces on a black background. But, more important, they are extremely comfortable and warm due to the eco/ortholite inner sole. I wore them in Patagonia in the Argentine winter all day with a pair of jeans, microfiber stockings and cotton socks and was warm and comfortable. I am average size and height, and I was able to comfortably fit these items in my boots and walk around all day. I do not have stick-thin legs. However, for anyone with wide calves, I would recommend another style. The tongue under the laces is attached to the boot and so the laces should be regarded as an embellishment. That is, the boots cannot be made wider or narrower. I am very happy with them and recommend them highly.

i bought these boots for their generous calf circumference, so i could tuck my pants in and still have circulation to my feet. the first pair i bought (from tretorn directly as they were not yet available on amazon) in my normal size and they were HUGE! so i ordered my next pair from amazon a size smaller and i would say they are still a size too big... other than that, they are great. seriously consider ordering two sizes below your normal size! (normally i am in a US 7, and the US 6 is large).These boots seem very durable and keep my feet warm. The only thing that I don't like is that the shoe string gets hung on vines.
